The Ten Commandments

The 8th Commandment

“You shall not steal.”

Exodus 20:15, NLT

That’s pretty straightforward, isn’t it? Yet we’ve probably all taken something that doesn’t belong to us, no matter how small or inexpensive.

God doesn’t distinguish between expensive and inexpensive things. He just says, “Don’t steal”.

You don’t have to be a burglar, breaking into homes or businesses. You don’t have to be a robber, mugging people on the street. Maybe you cheat on your taxes just a little bit. Maybe you’ve remained silent when an error in your favor comes around at the store or the bank. It doesn’t matter; God knows everything. If you’re guilty, you’ll be held accountable.

Even being greedy will get you the same sentence from God. So watch out! Take care how you live.

Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11, NLT

Nothing more to say here.

Be well,

Gary
