Here we are: an imperfect, fallible race – all connected by DNA and the inescapable fact that we all share in the same mortal nature (or essence).
The data are in. Everyone dies. This fact does not depend on what you believe, feel, say or do. Your mortal flesh will eventually (or sooner) give out for one reason or another.
There are certain undeniable truths about Humanity 1.0:
- Everyone dies (we are mortal)
- No one is perfect (as God is perfect)
- We all share in the same nature or essence
- There is only one human race (currently)
Some things about us are less obvious:
- We all have a spirit (or soul)
- We all have the same common ancestors: Noah and his wife, and ultimately, Adam and Eve
- We are made in the image of our Creator (in ways we can only now imagine)
- Our bodies filter out the Spirit Realm around us (the 5 senses can only detect so much)
- Our spirits will live on forever when we die
- We were created to have a loving relationship with our Creator
- We can accept or reject entering into Humanity 2.0
Humanity 1.0
Face it, these bodies of ours break down and decay. We are becoming “less-than”, as soon as we are fully grown. We all have a very brief time of peak performance. After that, we start to fade in strength, endurance, and mental acuity. Ultimately, whether through injury, disease, or expiration date, our bodies will simply stop working. After that, our spirits will be free of these bodies that I call our “Filter”. Why “Filter”? Because the physical body filters out the Spirit Realm that is all around us. We cannot fully experience the Spirit Realm with our own spirit because of our body’s inability to sense beyond the 5 senses we possess. And spirit is beyond physical (even though they merge).
One of my favorite authors, Paul the Apostle, put it this way:
Our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.
1 Corinthians 15:50
Humanity 1.0 has an expiration date that is stamped on each and every one of us. We can only see so much, hear so much, touch so much, taste so much, and smell so much. Our knowledge is limited. Our wisdom is limited. Our presence is limited. Our strength is limited. All of our abilities are limited. And not one of us is perfect. No one is a “Super Human”.
Humanity 2.0
Here’s the good news. We won’t be this way forever. After all, these mortal bodies cannot inherit immortality. And when we read the Book given to us by our Creator, we learn that there is much more for us to look forward to.
21 So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. 22 Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. 23 But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised as the first of the harvest; then all who belong to Christ will be raised when he comes back.
1 Corinthians 15:21-23
So Paul is telling us that we will be like Jesus when He comes back to earth. That is, all who believe in Him. And what were some characteristics that Jesus displayed after He was raised from the dead? In the Gospel of John we read the following:
That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said.
John 20:19
Today, we might call that “Teleportation” – the ability to move from place to place simply by the power of thought or will, regardless of physical barriers. So I believe that one ability that Humanity 2.0 might possess is Teleportation.
Paul tells us that our new bodies will be Immortal. This means that we can never die. Today, we would call this “Invincibility”. Like Superman, we will not be subject to death by any means, including the ones listed above (injury, disease, expiration date). The difference is that there is no such thing as “Kryptonite” – or anything else that can deprive us of our powers and life.
Although I can’t prove it, I also believe that our powers will include a degree of “Telepathy” (speaking with each other by way of thought and knowing each other’s thoughts and emotions by way of spiritual contact) and “Telekinesis” (the ability to move or manipulate physical objects or nature). My two references for these beliefs are how angels can use telekinesis and how Paul says we will know fully, even as we are fully known.
Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.
1 Corinthians 13:12
And even though Superman has incredible strength, I believe that physical strength will be irrelevant to us because of our telekinesis. So in every way, we will be far superior to this fictional character we call “super”.
When Do We Become Super Human?
As already touched on above, we will take on Humanity 2.0 when Jesus comes back to us, here on earth.
51 But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! 52 It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. 53 For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.
1 Corinthians 15:51-53
And when will this trumpet sound? For this answer, we turn to the Gospel of Matthew:
29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Matthew 24:29-31
If you’re not up on the whole “tribulation” thing, please read all of Matthew 24 (and Mark 13 and Luke 21). Or you can read my book, End Times Made Easy, available on Amazon. “The Son of Man” was Jesus’ favorite name for Himself.
You Can Skip It
Don’t like the idea of being a “Super Human”? That’s okay, you can opt out. It’s really very easy to do:
- Ignore God
- Refuse His offer of redemption to Him through the cross of Christ
- Choose to disbelieve in Jesus and His solution to our DNA Problem
Unfortunately, without accepting Humanity 2.0, you will be destined for an eternal existence as “less-than”. I don’t mean that you will be a really humble person. I mean that you will be cut off from your Creator and His blessings of happiness, satisfaction, fulfillment, unity with others of your kind, beauty, comfort, pleasure…. But you can certainly turn it down, no one is holding a gun to your head or forcing you to accept God’s terms of reconciliation (unlike Islam, that holds a knife to your throat). So feel free to opt out. Just know that to do so will mean utter loneliness, regret, sorrow, darkness, despair, weakness, captivity, no fellowship with anyone at all…. Personally, I recommend opting in.
Instructions for Entering Into Humanity 2.0
Being a member of Humanity 2.0 is not automatic – there are terms, conditions, or provisos:
- Recognize your Creator. Admit that the universe and everything in it is the work of a Being (called Yahweh) Who is far superior to any and all of His creation.
- Admit that Jesus and God are One. The Creator became a human (literally Humanity 1.1). His name is Yeshua (Jesus). The difference with Him, though, is that He is perfect (as opposed to our imperfect condition).
- Believe that Jesus satisfied the Creator’s need to reconcile us to Him through a sacrificial act of atonement for our fallen nature that we brought upon ourselves and have inherited throughout the ages. He did this by dying on the cross (an ancient form of torturous death used by the Romans in the first century).
- Admit that you cannot pass from Humanity 1.0 to Humanity 2.0 on your own (by your own power). You need your Creator to make the change for you.
- Confess that the only way for this to happen is through Jesus (what He did for you on the cross and what He will do upon His return to earth).
- Present yourself to your Creator as one of His subjects. Make it clear that you now belong to Him and that you are not your own.
After doing the above 6 things, begin to humbly walk with your Creator in a new, vibrant relationship, where He is the Master and you are the servant.
You will continue to be imperfect in your current filtered state, and you will continue to have problems (maybe even more than before), but you will be transformed upon the return of Jesus, our King above all kings and Lord above all lords! You will still be a member of Humanity 1.0, but you will be guaranteed a spot in Humanity 2.0 when the time comes for us to be transformed together.
Until then, be blessed and look up to your Creator for all of your needs.
